HomeUncategorizedAbrusci’s 17+2 Year Transformation

History

Do you only know Abrusci’s at our new location? If so, you’re not alone. A lot of people don’t realize that we actually started at another location just down the street 17 years ago! Since our original open date, November of 2000, we have received countless awards and recognition as well as experienced many opportunities for growth and innovation. Below are just a few of the highlights from over the years:

Nov 2000: Opened at 3244 Youngfield St.

Winter 2003: Voted of one of Denver’s Top 5 Best Kept Secrets by 5280 Magazine

Winter 2007: Voted Best Gluten Free Restaurant by 5280 Magazine

June 2015: Became a leader in our industry by being the first restaurant in Colorado to implement the non-tipping model

June 2017: Opened our own building at 2200 Youngfield St.

What’s Changed

In addition to getting a major facelift with the new freestanding building, our menu got an overhaul as well. We like to refer to our new place as “Urban Italian,” a perfect mix of old and new. As a guest in our restaurant, you will find something for everyone, from classic Italian dishes to a delicious (and shareable) 48oz Porterhouse Steak. Our new building also is equipped with a wood-fire pizza oven for pizzas and calzones. Enjoy complimentary garlic knots as you watch Sal and the gang make your pizza to order at the pizza bar.

And for those barflies, our drink menu has also been enhanced. We currently partner with several local distilleries and breweries to make our craft cocktail selection and ever-rotating beer selection delicious, fun and hyperlocal.

Abrusci’s newest change is Valet. The dirt lot is getting paved, so Valet is a great option for hassle-free parking. For only $5, you don’t have to search for parking and can get inside to enjoy the atmosphere sooner!

What’s the Same

We kept our most popular dishes, like the #1 ordered pasta, Rigatoni and Sausage (aka Steve’s Rigatoni) and Penne Gorgonzola (because we learned our lesson from the great Penne Gorgonzola debacle of 2005). While we realize Penne Gorgonzola isn’t for everyone, the ones that love it, REALLY LOVE IT and we won’t make the mistake of taking it off the menu again!

Not only are there many of the same dishes, but we’re also privileged to have many of our staff members from the old location as well. A few servers and kitchen staff have even been with us for 15+ years! It’s unheard of in the restaurant industry to see such longevity and we’re fortunate to have a family of devoted staff that help make our restaurant be the best it can be.

Anniversary Celebration

This weekend we are celebrating our 17 + 2 year Anniversary: 17 years at the old location, and 2 years at the new. We want to thank all of our customers because we couldn’t have done it without you! To celebrate, we have several food and drink specials including a complimentary cannoli or glass of dessert wine with each entree purchase, today through Sunday. There’s also raffles and prizes happening all weekend. For the food specials this weekend, we’re offering some of the great menu items we have seen come and go because we know, change is hard. Take a peek at the menu:

Appetizer: Arancini Risotto

Pastas: Pesto Chicken Linguini or Shrimp and Chicken Garlic Tomato Linguini

Entrees: Pork Gorgonzola or Chicken Saltimbocca

Pizza: Michelangelo Pizza

Dessert: Cannolis

We hope you can stop by and celebrate with us this weekend! Thanks for 17+2 great years, here’s to many more!

We will reopen for Dinner on Tuesday, June 20th.

Thanks for your patience, see you all soon!
